During lockdown, Brotherhood Media opened our sites up to designers and music artists to spread messages of positivity and support to London neighbourhoods. The reaction was wonderful with inspiring designs coming in from a host of different music artists and creatives, coining the phrase #billboardpositive.
Coming out of lockdown we decided to make an ongoing commitment to continue donating available space to various different causes and charities.
In June 2021 we also teamed up with award winning designer Greg Bunbury to launch a project called Black Outdoor Art. We donate billboard space whilst Greg curates the content.
Black Outdoor Art (#blackoutdoorart) is a social initiative, that uses outdoor advertising in London, Leeds and Bristol, as a space for positive Black expression in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Black Outdoor Art commissions, produces and displays artwork created by the Black British creative community, from artists and designers, to illustrators, around themes of racism, equality, empowerment, and their lived experiences here in the UK.
The goal of the initiative is to inspire discussion, activism and change.
